About Springfield Gardens Neighborhood

Springfield Gardens is a neighborhood in the southeastern area of Queens, bounded by St. Albans to the north and JFK airport to the south. Today the neighborhood has a large Afro-Caribbean and Indo-Caribbean population including immigrants from Guyana, Haiti, Trinidad, and Jamaica. Springfield Park, a 24-acre expanse with the sizable Springfield Lake at its center, is picturesque in all seasons. As a whole Springfield Gardens is considered middle-class, with a wealth of triangle-on-rectangle suburbanesque homes. Though its streets are quiet and tree-lined, Springfield specializes in authentic Indian cuisine and public shopping malls, quaint ponds, and a historic horse race track.
