About Hillcrest Neighborhood

Hillcrest is a small and diverse neighborhood located in the middle of Queens, between Flushing and Jamaica. The housing mostly consists of single and multi-family private homes. Many students attending the local St John’s University will rent out a room or floor in these houses. It is a safe, friendly and reasonably-priced area to rent. Union Turnpike is the main commercial street. Though many tourist or outsiders have no reason to visit this area, it is well-known by locals for its flea market and street fair. The population mostly consists of Orthodox Jewish, though it also has a mix of African-American, Russian and Hispanics.
