About Flushing Neighborhood

Neighborhood Map image

Flushing is one of the most ethnically diverse residential neighborhoods located in the borough of Queens. The majority of the population is foreign-born-with most coming from Asia and tend to be mostly concentrated in the westernmost edge of the community. It is also known for having the largest Chinatown in New York City, recently surpassing the Manhattan Chinatown in size, and continues to be one of the largest and fastest growing Chinese enclaves outside Asia. It is home to some world-class sports venues like Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and Arthur Ashe Stadium. Most of the housing includes multi-family apartment buildings, condos, detached houses and Victorian mansions. Most homes include stoops and gardens giving it more of a suburban feel. Notable residents have included Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese, novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald and actor and director Judd Apatow.
