About Hamilton Heights Neighborhood

Hamilton Heights is a neighborhood located in northwestern Manhattan, located between 135th Street and 155th Street. Although the population consists of more whites than ever before due to recent gentrification, Hispanics, African Americans and West Indians also constitute a lot of the area. Young professionals and families are moving in as they get priced out of Manhattan’s more expensive and less kid-friendly neighborhoods. Housing mostly consists of brownstones, historic townhouses, spacious pre-war apartment buildings, and rowhouses. Riverside Park runs along the Hudson River and is a popular outdoor destination of locals. Notable residents have included civil right activist Malcolm X and musician Duke Ellington.
