In west Bronx, bordering the Harlem River lies the neighborhood of University Heights. Once the home to NYU's Bronx campus, today University Heights houses Bronx Community College's campus, which includes the Bronx Conservatory of Music as well as the Hall of Fame for Great Americans. Much of the neighborhood is occupied by the college grounds, but there is quite a bit of residentials areas in University Heights, consisting of a mix of low-rise apartment buildings and houses. Besides the college campus, University Heights is nearly purely residential. Retails businesses can be found only along the borders of the neighborhood. Public transit is also hard to come by as no MTA train lines actually run into or by this area. The MetroNorth Hudson line does stop at University Heights, and the neighborhood is very easy to get to from Manhattan by crossing the University Heights Bridge. It faces the Inwood area of Manhattan and you can easily catch the 1 train after crossing the bridge into the city. Despite it's close proximity to Manhattan, real estate prices remain low in this neighborhood.
