Port Morris Apartments for Rent
About Port Morris Neighborhood
Port Morris is the sister neighborhood as Mott Haven in the South Bronx. It encompasses the waterfront territory on the southern side of the I-87. This side of the South Bronx enjoys the most direct views of the city, Randall's Island, and northern Queens. The old loft buildings and converted warefhouses of Port Morris might remind you more of DUMBO or Red Hook in Brooklym or the Meatpacking District of Manhattan than the Bronx (minus the cobblestone streets). This was the first area of the South Bronx to start gentrifying as real estate developers immediately saw the potential across the Harlem River. While prices have definitely risen here, they remain relatively low in comparison to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and parts of Queens. Many artists have moved into the area and breathed new life into the community. With them have come art galleries, cafes, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Moreover, big businesses like Fresh Direct, the NY Post, and FedEx have all opened up facilities by the port ever since the city's plan to clean up and fix the dilapidated waterfront.
