Longwood Apartments for Rent
About Longwood Neighborhood

Longwood is a low-income, residential neighborhood located in the southwest Bronx. It has one of the highest concentrations of Puerto Ricans in New York City. Aside from public housing, housing mostly consists of small one-family homes and 40-50-unit apartment buildings. The federal government invested over $550 million in new subsidized residential housing as well as the expansion of businesses. The area is slowly gentrifying but still has a ways to go in terms of hip cafes and restaurants. The main commercial streets – Boston Road and Third Avenue – have a mix of discount stores, delis, and other small businesses. A notable resident was Colin Powell.
