About East Tremont Neighborhood

East Tremont is a historically-rich residential neighborhood located in the western portion of the Bronx. This small community is less than a square mile. The section southwest of The Bronx Zoo is sometimes referred to as Bronx Park South. The population is majority Dominican though Whites, Puerto Ricans, and African Americans make up some of its residents too. Housing mostly consists of five and six-story tenement buildings, newer apartments buildings and older multi-unit homes. East Tremont Avenue is the main thoroughfare of the neighborhood. Tremont Park is a popular outdoor spot for locals to frequent. The Bronx Zoo is the main attraction of the area.
