Claremont Apartments for Rent

Claremont Village is a public housing development located in Morrisania, a section of the South Bronx. Built in 1963, it's one of the oldest and biggest projects of its type in the US. Roughly 12,000 residents live in the Butler, Morris, Webster, and Morrisania Houses. While home to a thriving community, Claremont Village also contends with poverty, violence, and tremendous healthcare inequities. Too often, unfortunately, such stories of tragedy overshadow the myriad of successes that have been born out of Claremont Village. The project’s tales of both victory and struggle are emblematic of other similar communities in the United States, including those found within close proximity. The surrounding Morrisania neighborhood is itself a low-income residential area. There, one will find one-family homes as well as apartment buildings with upwards of 50 units. There is talk, however, of larger projects being in development for the area, which has the potential to bring significant transformation.
